    From a commercial approach, there’s less risk in experimenting with an Air-Motion Roaster because you can see what you’re doing. Meanwhile, with a drum roaster, you just have to test each batch, set a milestone, and hope you get there. The Air-Motion Roaster allows for a lot more real-time access.

    Instead of upgrading to a larger drum roaster, we chose an Air-Motion Roaster because we got to play with it first and could see what it was. It’s sensory, it’s tactile, it’s kinesthetic. Being able to touch, smell, and see it says a lot.   • When we were looking at roasting equipment, we knew that we wanted to be 100% electric. We also knew that we needed to have something new and different to bring to market.     One of the pet peeves about drum roasters is that no matter your level of mastery, you’re always going to have some beans on the outside that receive burns. In contrast, each bean roasted in an Air-Motion Roaster is individually roasted on a pillow of air. It adds consistency all the way around, with no burning, and gives it a level of control we could only guess at with a drum roaster.

    Well-roasted coffee is definitely in the technique of the roaster. I don’t want to take that away from anybody roasting anywhere. There’s definitely a technique to be done. Good coffee takes heart and passion. The Air-Motion Roaster, though, gives a clean taste to the coffee that I’ve not experienced in any other way. I’d like to tell my clients sometimes that “it really is all me,” but a lot of it is really this machine.
